Editorial Note
A Letter Before Yours
Before asking you to trust this project with your story, I wanted to explain why it exists.
There are stories that rarely make it into history. They happen too quietly. They happen when someone starts dreaming in another language, when a recipe survives because one person still remembers it, when a child asks why a place that feels like home exists only in photographs.
Migration is often remembered through departures, borders, visas and arrivals. GHORBA is interested in the ordinary moments that come before and after them. Not as statistics. Not as political statements. Simply as human experiences, told by the people who lived them.
There is no single immigrant story and no correct way to belong. This project is not looking for dramatic stories. It is looking for honest ones.
Every submission will be read with care. Not every story can appear in the first volume, but that does not diminish its value or the trust placed in this project.
